Laughter Keeps The Heart & Mind Young

I truly believe that and  find at least a few things each day to make me chuckle. I tend to get a lot of emails with one liners but I am a very visual person, so I just add my own spice to it. Each day I can come up with a different perspective - guess it depends on one's state of mind at the given time.

My pages are made up with a one liner or two, an assortment of pics found on Google, blend effects and use of a variety of my brushes/backgrounds.

They Say It's Over - But Is it Really

No matter how you cut it, murder is murder! Those who consider themselves intellectuals, democratic, modern and progressive sorts espousing great pride in the cold blooded & brutal killing of a dictator - is there really anything to be proud about!

Alone

Been doing a lot of pencil and charcoal pages these days. A friend asked me to create a page for her from this photo using those effects.

The sense of pain has to stir the feeling within one's very soul.

Wonders Of Fall

I especially love September. The weather is usually very pleasant and  folks seem more likely to be out and about taking leisurely strolls those many walks to enjoy the sights and sounds of Autumn. The beauty of the changing colours in Ontario is just simply beholding to the eye. It also means that it is that time to start putting the patio furniture away, pruning and putting out some of those bedraggled plants - but lets not go there shall we! Can't get enough of scrapping pages of those glorious autumn tones these days and here are just a few variations I scrapped recently.

Love these train tracks & couldn't help making two pages - sorry about that, well actually I'm not :)

Time Stands Still

Forever ~ A Very Special Day

An admirer from a far remembers each year this very special moment we shared so many years ago on this day.

                It matters not
              where I may be,

              a dozen beautiful
                red roses will

               find their way
                     to me.

This marks the 43rd anniversary of remembrance of this very special
moment in time - not even once forgotten ~ thank you -:)

I Have Been Moved Again :)

Just sitting around my 'puter this aft when I felt like my chair was being moved or lightly rocked. In fact I turned around to see if my cat was about and brushing back and forth as she does when wanting attention - mind you she would have to have been a bit stronger to duplicate the movement I had felt. This shaking or vibration lasted approximately 15 to 30 second and I began to think back to last year's earthquake. I quickly looked at the clock on my 'puter and it was now about 1:56 P.M. A few minutes later I heard the breaking news report on our local news station that an earthquake of about 5.8 had just occurred in Virginia just minutes before. Apparently we sit on a very old and same fault and that's why many folks felt some minor shaking so far North here in Toronto.

Maybe One Effect Too Many?

Well don't quite know what to make of this page. First I started out with a pencil sketching in mind. Then I decided to add the curled frame look and before I knew it I added a bit of an out of bounds technique and a brushed outer frame.

Love messin' with various and different combinations of effects just to see what comes out of it all. A jack of all effects, but alas a master of none ~ yep, that's gotta' be me :)  ~  But I do have fun while I'm at it!

'Not' The Canadian Way!

Oh how very reminiscent this is of Toronto during the G20. This is not
representative of what we as Canadians, Vancouverites and fans stand for. Once again, a beautiful city and its people are victimized by mindless thugs. They not only take over the downtown streets thru intimidating the common folks and police but vandalize, loop and leave a trail of untold destruction in their wake. This has nothing what so ever to do with hockey or losing; this is just an excuse of a mindless lot with a criminal intent. Too bad these perpetrators are not held accountable and made to pay restitution for the millions of dollars in damages they and they alone are responsible for!

Webbed Feet Are A Growin'!!

Rain, rain go away, come again some other day! Yes I know we need it for our gardens & lawn but to have 17 days of rain in the first 23 days of May is a bit much here in Toronto.

Photobucket

Haven't even been able to get my usual flower gardens completed and I am always done by this time every year. Umbrellas are becoming a must have accessory at all times - background for my ani is a pic of Lake Ontario and the Toronto skyline.

(Hmmmm the '5' pointer idiot strikes again - If brains were gasoline, she wouldn't have enough to run a piss ant's motor-scooter halfway around a Cheerio!' )!!  'Nuff Said.

A Force Of Nature Too Great To Reckon With

As news of the devastating Slave lake fire began to quickly filter thru on Sunday, memories flooded back when most of my Sask. home town main street was destroyed by fire many years ago. The destruction was only a fraction of that which is occurring today at Slave lake, population of approx 7,000, where to date it is estimated 40%,(400+ homes plus some business) of the town has been destroyed and still burning; but I remember the chaos, fright, overwhelming uncertainty and sense of loss/pain and the aftermath of that day. One can not begin to describe or even understand how this forever changes your life. My prayers and thoughts are with the folks in Slave Lake.

More -:(

This is considered one of the worst disasters in modern Canadian history. The wildfires have destroyed so much more than just building properties in Slave Lake and the Municipal District of Lesser Slave Rive

Happy Mother's Day To All

"Happy Mother's Day" means more than have a happy day.
Within those words lie lots
of things we never get to say.

It means I love you first of all, then thanks for all you do. It means you mean a lot to me, and that
 I honor you.

But most of all, I guess it means that I am thinking of your happiness on this, your day, with pleasure and with love.

Happy Mother's Day!

WELLHELLNO ...... they all got it wrong ..... :)!!

Nease is always bang on with his political observations & cartoons - this has to be representative of any street, Canada right now! Who's right, who's wrong - anyone?? - No. Do most know what the real purpose and deliverable of an election is - sadly I think not.

My Laugh For Today!!

Maxine on her  'One Day Of Employment':

"So after landing my new job as a Home Depot greeter, a good find for many retirees, I lasted less than a day....
About two hours into my first day on the job a very loud, unattractive, mean-acting woman walked into the store with her two kids, yelling obscenities at them all the way through the entrance.

I said pleasantly, 'Good morning and welcome to The Home Depot. Nice children you have there. Are they twins?'

The ugly woman stopped yelling long enough to say, 'Hell no, they ain't twins. The oldest one's 9, and the other one's 7. Why the hell would you think they're twins? Are you blind, or stupid?'

So I replied, 'I'm neither blind nor stupid, Ma'am, I just couldn't believe someone slept with you twice.Have a good day and thank you for shopping at the Home Depot.'

My supervisor said I probably wasn't cut out for this line of work!"

~ Don't Call Her Liz ~

One of my favorites - not only recognized for her talents, Elizabeth enjoyed a glamorous life style & lived life to its fullest though she struggled with health problems for most of it. She was also known for her beauty and her distinctive violet eyes!

Taylor's parting wish was that her funeral start late and I think why not :)! So in observance of her wish, the service began 15 minutes late.

The Conservatives Hard At Work For US??? ........ NOT!!

Yup you got it - this is what we pay for!

House Minority Leader pictured standing far right, speaks while colleagues play solitaire Monday night as the House convened to vote on a new budget. (AP)

The guy sitting in the row in front of these two....he's on Facebook, and the guy behind Hennessy is checking out the baseball scores.

These are the folks that couldn't get the budget out by Oct. 1, and are about to control your health care, cap & trade, and the list goes on & on! Should we buy them larger screen computers - or - a ticket home, permanently?

This is one of their 3-DAY WORK WEEKS that we all pay for (salary about $179,000 per year).

job on this - another great Canadian talent! His Juno win was so well deserved.

Another Alternative To My Name Is Purple

Well rather than the original I did for the challenge a few days back, I decided to revamp and switched the final to this one. Not sure which sure if that was the right decision - but oh well, its done now :)

You'll find it here at SBF to see how I am doing :).

This video so amuses me and I would say that I have probably watched it 6 or 7 times over the last week or so. You can't help but adore this precious child as his reactions vary from wonderment, to shock and then outbreaks of giggles when his mom blows her nose.

Emerson, a 5 month old hailing from London, Ontario, is a YouTube sensation. His video has gone viral generating some 6 million hits in less than a week. Awesome lil fella!!

~ Purple Is The Color Of My Name ~

Well have this ready to go for the next challenge. Never considered that my color was purple - while I do like it, it is not my favorite. This made it harder to come up with a page I liked using the purple but here it is!

If you want to find out the color of your name, just pop on over to here.

~ My Animal/Bird Spirit ~

One of my newest scrapbook postings is a page depicting your animal spirit - mine turned out to be the owl.

It also posted in the challenge here , checked it out & if you want you can even drop me a comment and/or a vote or two :). Wonder what your own spirit animal is?? - well just pop over to  Jerry's ,  lots of fun!

Time Stands Still For No One

When I went back home several years ago, I found that the grand old farm house that I remembered with such vivid detail was no more. There stood a delapidated old building absent of most doors and windows, floors caved and beams broken and dangling precariously. A couple of years thereafter, I went back again, perhaps thinking someone may have made this old building whole again, but those shambled remnants of its very being were now all gone. Now the land where my beloved home once stood was a grain field. My heart broke - somehow a piece of my history ceased to exist and so to, I sensed a part of me died that day too.

My page depicts a broken and deserted home that once someone love too. I found this beautiful poem written by  VanMeer which is so fitting. Its almost as if he took the thoughts right from my heart.  Then I realize there are so many of us that have come to know the same experience as we grow older in life. Time stands still for no one now does it?!
